My art travels around my body as a map of daily experiences and adventures, traumas and pleasures, converted in these stories I tell between canvas and paper. My art is the passion with no limits, the transformed pain, and the joy of continuing to tell more stories.                -Dolores Delia-

Dolores Delia was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina and currently is based in Cairns, Australia.

She finished her technical studies in Fine Arts, and also studied a short career in Art History and Creative Photography. As she was studying for her bachelor’s degree, she decided to postpone her studies in the search for new horizons abroad.  During 2020 she exhibited her works at the surrounding art auction in Kimberley, Broome, Australia as well as in 2019 he exhibited in the collective exhibition ¨The Selfie ¨ at Ten Forty Seven Art Space in Sydney, Australia.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dolores´artistic practice revolves around painting, printmaking, drawing and photography, mixing techniques and using collage as the most creative way to expose her ideas. as an artist, she that enjoys working with her mistakes, mixing old and new from thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Lately, she’s been trying to explore more these techniques in the form of installations.

Dolores tries to find in every destination printmaking workshops and meet local artists along the way, to learn from them and share her passion for art.  She has been learning to create homemade paper, learned about eco printing techniques and other more sustainable artistic practices to implement in her projects.  Her creative process became a raw and fresh exploration. This constant  experimental practice portrayed nature and fate as masters of inspiration.

ABOUT FUTURE

In my third FUTURE edition online residency, I discovered that my concerns about this temporality were normal anxieties in response to what is happening in the world lately. I understood that we have many things in common beyond language, ways of seeing, thinking about something as uncertain and abstract as the future, which we all unconsciously manifest in work.

Time as a concept was always important in my work: The passing of time in matter, in images. I learned a lot for my future work by seeing different ways of creating art, in dialogue with an alternative and creative timeline on different scales. Again I enjoyed working as a team and enriching myself with the talks: a guest curator who told us something very interesting about how to position ourselves for the future as an independent artist, something that I had never questioned before.

This cohort being a little longer gave me the opportunity to work and establish a stronger relationship with my project partners. Beyond the work but the concept behind it and the different ways of exploring it. A more transcendent experience, exploring archaeological techniques to unearth within oneself the potentiality of work and the endless possibility to create.

The Latin America's Paris

Buenos Aires is Argentine Republic's capital city. With 15,000,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest cities in Latin America and one of the 10 most populous urban centers in the world. Its cosmopolitan and urban character vibrates to the rhythm of a great cultural offer that includes monuments, churches, museums, art galleries, opera, music and theaters; squares, parks and gardens with old groves; characteristic neighborhoods; large shopping centers and fairs. Here we also find a very good lodging facilities, with accommodation ranging from hostels to five-star hotels of the main international chains. Buenos Aires also show off about its variety of restaurants with all the cuisines of the world, as well as to have cafes and flower kiosks on every corner.

A neighborhood founded on the Jesuit farms in the 17th century

We are located in Colegiales neighborhood where the tree-lined streets, some of which still have their original cobblestones, invite you to walk. Although the apartment buildings advance, low houses still predominate. It is a district of the city where about 20 TV production companies, design studios, artist workshops and the Rock&Pop radio have been located. The neighborhood also has six squares, one of which pays homage to Mafalda, the Flea Market, shops, restaurants and cafes like its neighboring Barrios de Palermo and Belgrano, with which it limits.
