SEMILLERO 2024 fellowships
Open Call

31.05.24 07.07.24

In alliance with the Williams Foundation, and with the objective of supporting emerging creators both from Argentina and foreigners (living permanently in Argentina with DNI), we are launching this open call for the 2024 edition of the Semillero Programme.

This year, the Semillero Programme expands both in terms of activities and funding, hybridizing two programs that ´ace already has in place: the ProductionExploration Residencies and the Semillero exhibition programme.

On this occasion, 6 participants will receive fellowships to do residencies at ´ace, in which they will be able to research, produce work, present their work to the public, interact with the city, take advantage of the knowledge of the team and nourish themselves with the international network of affection and professional contacts that characterizes our residency programme. In addition, Semillero will provide remote curatorial accompaniment for 5 months (both before and after the on-site residencies).

The 6 selected participants will receive a participation grant to cover mobility, expenses and materials (to travel from their places of residence to CABA, buy supplies for their production or other expenses related to the program), together with the possibility of carrying out a residency in the framework of the ´acePIRAR | International Artistic Residencies Program, and present their process at the end of it. In addition, both the residency and the exhibition will take place simultaneously with international residents, which gives the fellowship holders the opportunity to expand their network of professional contacts and nurture their artistic practice with other cultural and professional perspectives.

SEMILLERO 2024 is a program aimed at emerging artists, curators and researchers working in the field of art. Proposals related to printmaking, contemporary print media, installation, performance, video, sound art, digital media, drawing, artist’s book, painting, sculpture, writing, new media and their crossings and hybridizations are accepted, as long as the proposals can be carried out within the framework of this program and the ‘ace installations.

The SEMILLERO 2024 program will offer each of the 6 residents:

  • AR $500,000 (five hundred thousand Argentinean pesos) as a Participation Grant, which may be invested at the discretion of the resident to cover travel expenses, purchase of materials, living expenses not included in the residency, etc.

The Latin America's Paris

Buenos Aires is Argentine Republic's capital city. With 15,000,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest cities in Latin America and one of the 10 most populous urban centers in the world. Its cosmopolitan and urban character vibrates to the rhythm of a great cultural offer that includes monuments, churches, museums, art galleries, opera, music and theaters; squares, parks and gardens with old groves; characteristic neighborhoods; large shopping centers and fairs. Here we also find a very good lodging facilities, with accommodation ranging from hostels to five-star hotels of the main international chains. Buenos Aires also show off about its variety of restaurants with all the cuisines of the world, as well as to have cafes and flower kiosks on every corner.

A neighborhood founded on the Jesuit farms in the 17th century

We are located in Colegiales neighborhood where the tree-lined streets, some of which still have their original cobblestones, invite you to walk. Although the apartment buildings advance, low houses still predominate. It is a district of the city where about 20 TV production companies, design studios, artist workshops and the Rock&Pop radio have been located. The neighborhood also has six squares, one of which pays homage to Mafalda, the Flea Market, shops, restaurants and cafes like its neighboring Barrios de Palermo and Belgrano, with which it limits.
