Hello World!
Artists in dialogue
20.05.20
An international project organized by TransCultural exchange organization based in Boston, the USA in which ´ace has been invited to participate.
“The COVID-19 coronavirus seems to have brought a necessary slowdown, if not a downright halt to artistic and cultural gatherings, exchanges and cross-border productions.
Although we believe – and know from experience – that face-to-face interactions are the best way to experience artworks and encourage collaboration, for the moment we recognize that our usual approaches would be inappropriate. Therefore, we are proposing an alternative. Inspired by singers singing from the balconies in Italy, TransCultural Exchange is proposing a virtual, global art project with the aim of continuing to encourage international exchange among artists, showcasing works to new audiences and fostering dialog among peoples of different cultures – without anyone having to leave their homes.
Already, MIT Program Art, Culture and Technology, Harvard University’s Cultural Agents, Theater without Borders, the Goethe-Institut in Boston and India, B’art Contemporary (Kyrgyzstan), pARTage (Mauritius), the Art & Science International Institute in Paris, China Residencies, Switzerland’s artists-in-lab program, among many others have agreed to participate and we have received works from many spots around the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, and North, Central and South America.
On summer solstice, or June 20th, the longest day of the year (for the North Hemisphere) all the artists’ works and participating venues will be made public on Hello World and remain there for the foreseeable future as a permanent archive.
